Opened in 2002 in the Berkeley Jazzschool, Jazzcaffè is a hidden treasure - a little spot of class in the midst of the busy downtown Theater District, right next door to the California Jazz Conservatory, Aurora Theatre Company and Berkeley Rep. Originally intended to serve a quick coffee for students and teachers, the cafe has become a gathering place for the great (and soon-to-be great) of the local jazz scene.
Our cafe is the perfect place for a bite of lunch or dinner, or a cozy coffee and pastry. A changing menu features house-made soups, salads and sandwiches, as well as beer, wine, espresso and desserts. Drop by for a great meal and some great music-a stolen moment or an entire afternoon-and you never know who you'll find sitting in for a few numbers on piano, bass or sax....
